Pairs

Boomswap liquidity pairs are a collection of currencies on the Boom blockchain that are locked in a persistent smart contract and used for trading between tokenised assets (“tokens”).

Liquidity provider ("LP") provide liquidity that enable the exchange of currencies between two parties, peer-to-peer. They replace traditional bureaux de change and order books by directly matching buyers and sellers and serve as the backbone of decentralised finance platforms (“DeFi”).

Anyone can create a pair and once created, the balance of each token is zero. In order for the pool to begin facilitating trades, someone must seed it with an initial deposit of each currency. This first liquidity provider is the one who sets the initial price of the pair.
